Re @sambrookjm 's breakdown of how the Hawkeye-IM-Kang cheese team works, Kang also gains 2 blue AP for each countdown expiring. So that's the remaining 6 AP you need to triple fire Kang's blue.

I don't use that team, but I would assume that yes, you would just retreat if the yellow AP supports don't fire.

As for the definitions of a cheese team, for me, it's mainly just limited to Kang and Multiple Man's alternate win conditions.

On a broader level, I feel like cheese teams are more like one trick ponies that rely on exploiting a single thing. I remember when I first started playing, people bemoaning Shang Chi-eese teams; I would think that firing a turn 0 winfinite with the new Moonstone would also qualify.

I normally use Grocket/Juggs/Polaris (all ascended in the 470s) for the pick 3 nodes, Grocket/Polaris for the pick 2, and the EyeM4Kang cheese team for the CN. There are faster teams than that but it requires little thinking. Some nodes might benefit from switching teams if they are anti-polaris but most of the time they die quickly if you target the right character.

The cheese team on the CN probably saves a bunch of time, regardless of who you're facing. I'll have to try that sometime.

Could you help me understand what is meant by cheese team? I've seen that in various definitions and not sure exactly what it means in this context. Thanks!

I'm assuming this is 5-star Hawkeye, Multiple Man, and 5-star Kang. This team doesn't win by knocking all of the enemies down to zero health, but either by sending all of them away via Kang's blue, or (far more likely) getting a bunch of Multiple Man tiles on the board. Starting off with +2 All AP makes this pretty easy, provided your characters are high enough levels to survive a couple of hit backs from the 650 enemies..

I believe that reference was to 5-star Hawkeye, 3-star Iron Man, and Kang. That cheese team works when you start with enough AP to throw Iron Man's yellow. Hawkeye will then fortify the countdowns, and when they resolve, you should have enough blue AP to send everyone away.

Yes it was. I used the "Eye" from Hawkeye instead of the "I" from IM40.

You can use Sanctum and SP//DR on Hawkeye and IM40 and Caps shield on Kang for up to 15 Yellow AP on turn 1. I tend not to bother using Boosts because it's rare that you don't get 6 but often you get 12. I tend to match a blue anyway just in case.

I think cheese teams are those that you can win easily and quickly with by circumventing the normal win conditions.

I believe the official name for this team was "Blue Man Group."

I hate the babytalk mashup names, proper combos need proper names!

Ah yes, I'd forgotten the official title. The other was my suggestion at the time which amused me when said out loud in a broad Scottish or Liverpool accent...

Is the Hawkeye/IM40/Kang team faster than Deathlok/IM40/Kang? I've had Hawkeye champed for ages now and just never use him. Deathlok is reliable for AP but I guess until I ascend him he is a bit vulnerable health wise. I guess the name for that one is D.I.K but I dunno if that will catch on exactly...

+2 Blue AP, +2 All AP, and +2 Yellow AP. Throw on some supports for Yellow AP so he can cast it first turn, and activate Recharge if it triggers.

    End of Turn 1 - 4 Blue, 3 countdowns
End of Turn 2 - 3 Fortified countdowns
End of Turn 3 - Countdowns go off. Assuming none of them have been matched/destroyed, that's +12 Blue AP from a 3-star Iron Man Ascended to 4-stars. Hawkeye gives you +9 for +21 blue that turn. This gives you 25 Blue AP.

Kang's 3xAway is 27 blue. If you make a blue match at some point (or have a +X blue AP support that also triggers), it should work.

Do you just retreat if the yellow doesn't trigger?

    Great question.

In the context of PVE play. YES!!!! Its faster to take the retreat and restart with your prefered alternate win condition team than fight through a bad position.

In the context of Pvp play. play on if you can. but this is a truism from the earliest days of the game. A slow win can be much worse than a fast loss!
