Scofie knows what's up. If you know it's a hard counter to your team, all you have to do in this instance was swap one person to someone who counters them back.I just pushed my 25 wins in the Toni ho event and saw different teams all the way to over 700 points. If anything, the main recurring factor was Magik was on the majority of those teams (and she is a jerk with Toni). So, either they need to fix everyone else's MMR, or people are being dramatic.
...25 wins/700 points. We are not playing the same game.
What game are you playing then? Is the frustration now that this is only a problem after X amount of wins and X amount of points?
You are beyond casual. I've been "retired" from PvP for like 6 years and I play at minimum twice as much as you do and frequently 4-6x as much. Serious PvP players are playing significantly more than me.
If my goal was to play for 15 minutes or whatever like you, I could also skip all the good teams and just bash a few seals and call it a day.
That was without skipping teams, and all I'm saying is, assuming the problem doesn't actually kick in until after that many points or wins, those details were not communicated and impacts a much smaller demographic.
It's not about points or wins, it's about roster and goals. You likely can't see the good players at all, and you're averaging like 25 points per win, which is awful. Are you seeing 60-75 point matches? Are you skipping them because their teams are too strong?
Players like me (and some others here!) are the canary in the coalmine. The folks I'm in competition with are on the bleeding edge of whatever the best thing in the game is, and everyone else is chasing that. They will get there eventually. I guarantee you there are hundreds of players investing into Sam/Jugg/Leapfrog/etc right now.
When Chasm and the Chasm/Hulk team showed up, nobody wanted to hear about it being overpowered (and I remember, I was there) until it broke containment and started showing up everywhere, for everyone.
I always see 50+ point matches along with max boosted characters (you even contributed to a previous conversation about how I see them often). I regularly look for the top 10 in my slice to hit for fun. I often sit in top 10 for hours at a time unshielded. I usually only avoid teams if I am looking to try something specific, but more often I am looking to fight the meta teams so I can get more data for the PVP counter thread.
Not sure what the comment about Sam/Jug/Frog has to do with this? Of course everyone is chasing them, and they should, I would never say otherwise.
If you're doing 50 point fights, then 25 wins gets you past 1200. Something isn't adding up.
The point was that if you're not currently seeing a wall, you may start seeing it soon -- it's possible that the folks in your matchmaking band haven't had a chance to level those guys yet. They're likely working on it, though!
If he is sitting unshielded he will be getting hit, so easy to see how he isn't hitting 1200.
So like, "I did 25 wins and got to 700 points" is a very, VERY different thing than "I did 25 wins while getting brutally murdered for 500+ points, and ended up at 700 points."
I dunno, I lost to Jeff, what do I know? From their posts though it seems they have a "come and get me" attitude and that explains the lower points score. Also nobody said every match was 50 points or whatever? Also I am lost at where we are now in this thread?
The point is that we can't make big declarative statements about what is or isn't while we are all engaging with the game in completely different ways. This person is a very casual player, and obviously that perspective is valuable, but they can't speak for others who play much more, in a much different way.
I mean casual is as casual does? What is the definition of a casual player? He/she posted a screenshot of being top 10 which is either a jammy result based upon others being even more casual or actually a bit of effort? I again caveat with the I lost to a fish standard of my knowledge here.
Hmm, I must be a super hardcore PvE player then...
(Or maybe it's early in the event and the bracket will look very different at the end)
I have no idea matey but I think you could be? I mean you said you sometimes play 100 matches in PvP? That seems pretty super hardcore to me! But...fish, etc, Yadda Yadda.

Taking quite the liberties with that math I see, we must be playing a different game.Listen, I'm not trying to start a fight or something. I think we're just not understanding each other.
You said you do (or did?) 25 matches for 700 points. I said that number of points per match seems low (700/25=28). You said that actually you usually see 50 point matches. If you do 25 50 point matches, that gets you to 1200. Then you posted a screenshot of you at 966 points.
So what am I missing? I am legitimately trying to understand your play style, and legitimately not understanding it. I'm asking what you do.

Well, if you just wanted to understand, all you had to do was ask. Sit back and let me regale you with stories of my play style!
PVP
- I usually rank 20-50 in most PVPs (no shielding, I've used 42 total shields in the past 10 years, and most of those were the past 2 years).
- I usually join the last slice, but really just join whichever I feel like playing at the time.
- I usually play about 5-10 or so matches at a time.
- I only ever play for the clock if I'm online in the last 30 minutes, then I will intentionally push to the 20-50 mark.
- I've only played up to the 50 matches, maybe 3 times? But this is mostly because they only do PVP for garbage 3 star characters and it was far less fun / diverse prior to supports. I play PVP way more now with supports.
- I usually push to about 700 - 800 points the night before and get hit for about 100 throughout the day (I rarely get hit hard on the way to that). This includes the PVP I just played and pushed to 4th. That event had already been about 2 days deep when I did that. I did not however do all 25 matches in 1 sitting, that's crazy. It was more like 10 one day and 15 the next. So I did not push to 4th place at the beginning when no one was playing.
- I usually don't choose fights based on points (until the very end, if I'm online). I chose the fight that either seems like more fun, or will give me data I am testing out. As noted, this often results in me fighting the meta teams.
- I do leave weird teams on defense sometimes just to track how they do, but I won't leave clear defensive losers on defense often (Moonstone, Shangchi, Agatha3 etc.)
- As noted in my meta thread, I play for fun and efficiency. I almost never use more than 1 boost at a time as that is the easy way out and I don't want to have to buy more (all of my boosts usually never go under 89 stored). I also play for fun over speed, so I far less often use my Juggersam and I almost never play Polaris or MThor anymore because I am so incredibly burnt out on their playstyle (together or separate).
- If I just happen to notice a single person tanking my score, I will hit back ASAP with a weird team OR someone I know is annoying to fight against with the team they used. Other than that, I very rarely look at the names of the people I fight.
- Simulator is usually my preferred playground as the options I get to play are much more varied and fun for me.
- When I get hit, it usually looks like this (unless I push to top 5 at the end and leave it unshielded for an extended period):
PVE
- I usually rank 10-20, level 10, slice 5.
- I always wait until after the event has been going and flips that night or the following morning.
- This is where I do the majority of the daily missions, goals? I forget what they're called.
- After my initial clears, I often experiment with silly or low level teams here and quit out before winning to avoid screwing my points over. It's absolutely ridiculous that this game doesn't have a practice area, and is easy to see why people don't want to experiment with new things, because you are punished everywhere you try it. You either lose in PVP or drop your speed score in PVE.
General
- I am usually relaxed on the couch or in my work chair when playing. Sometimes I switch between PS5 matches and MPQ matches at the same time.
- Bathrooms are definitely not safe from the grind.
- I spend far too much time going through my (and Variants guys) roster, planning my next favorites and strategizing new teams.
- I try not to spend much money anymore unless I know its a very good deal as I believe the current game economy takes advantage, and that's not what I'm about. Maybe a few bucks a month (but if I knew they were doing the right thing, I would totally open my wallet! S0kun)
- I LOVE me a good Code Red or Voltage to drink while playing, in a tumbler w/ plenty of ice.
- I have multiple IRL friends and fiancé that have started playing with me over the years, so I often share advice and shoot the MPQ breeze with them for a few minutes each day.
I think that's most of it, but if you want to know any specifics, I'm always down to share!

Is playing over 10 years casual?
Is having more 550s than the average person has characters casual?
Is spending copious amounts of money casual?
Is playing hundreds (plural) of PVP matches every event casual?
Is spending more time posting on a message board about the game than a majority of the players spend playing the actual game casual?
Is carrying vendettas and blood feuds against certain players casual?
Is begging for nerfs until you’re blue in the face casual?
Who’s to say?!
I mean maybe only T10 players can be considered “hardcore”, but as a person who frequently places T3 and often T1 in PVE, I only spend like 20 minutes a day on PVE total (opening clears and closing grind). So the hardcore actually spend less time on the game funny enough (using that silly definition). So… yeah. Something something fish.
