Agreed, playing time increases, anything that slows the game down, are poison to the community.
If they're not going to speed up damage then they better accelerate the AI turn even more.
The Devs might see an opportunity to sell items that speed up play, but they have repeatedly nerfed those items (Characters that generate AP, Thanoscopter, Leapfrog, Eros' Arrow, Fantasticar). So it's not like they have the trust of the community when it comes to paying to increase play speed.
Wait have any of those items been nerfed yet? Yet alone repeatedly? Can you link to where this has happened please.
I think you've misread it. I read it as those items (when equipped by an opponent) are the nerf to speed play.

I really wish they would explain how we get the 6 stars. I, know this is a me problem, but I feel like I can’t enjoy doing anniversary vaults and such if I know that could be a bad decision for my resources. It feels like they are trying to trick people into spending before the launch of 6 stars, which might not even be true and just me assuming bad faith on their end.

So, is Devil Dinosaur no longer part of the anniversay? He used to always be THE anniversary character and his covers were loaded in the anniversary vault. I'm one cover from ascending him and there are no covers for him.
Where are we supposed to get covers for him if not the anniversary vault? That was the only place to get his covers.

My guess is once the current anny character vault expires in a week a new one will start with different characters available.

The same was true last year, unfortunately. I was really hoping to ascend him at some point, but I don't think that's going to happen, at least if I want a 370/370.

If it's any help it all, I think it's almost certainly not going to be possible to get covers and/or shards with HP -- the HP/5★ conversion we've already seen (the "Event store" that has 5★ covers,) has the most ridiculously faint chance of pulling a cover.
I also suspect if it's linked to LT/CP at all then it will be a tiny amount of 6★ shards with each pull, but that may be too small to be significant, I dunno. I actually find it pretty likely they'll make shards how you get these guys, that way they can have a tight control on the roll out. We could see Shards on the preview character - it took 600 "diamond" shards for each cover.
I myself am probably going to do normalish spending -- I wasn't really planning on going hog wild with the Anniversary anyway. I'll get Nova to 550 and the other 5★s to whatever -- I haven't decided if I want to get Elsa that high or leave her where she is right now (546, so "close enough," it's honestly more of a "do I want more Elsa or more Sunspot to finish Nova." My Sunspot is actually higher than my Zemo, so that's also a thing...)

5* Polaris/m'Thor is one of the most common teams in my matchmaking range.
I agree that they should fix the instant win stuff first. But there's no reason for them to stop there.
I also don't see how making PvE take longer is making everyone's "life worse." Of course there are some people who only want to play MPQ for a few seconds every day, and get maximum rewards for this. I think the devs should be catering to players who enjoy playing the game, not those who just want to get it over with.
I have no idea how you can't see how making PvE take longer wouldn't make people's life worse. I don't know your personal real life situation (retired with endless free time, busy family life with kids, single living in parents basement/alone with free time etc) but I imagine I am not the only person with a family life who plays MPQ. If I get 1 hr total a day to play (either consecutively or 2 1/2 hr sessions or whatever adds to 1 hr) then making PvE take longer is going to make my life (my MPQ life obviously) worse. That's because I'll be able to get a lot less done (fewer battles) in my allotted time for MPQ. It would be like some politician saying that dropping the speed limit on the freeway from 60 MPH (100 KPH) to 50 MPH (80 KPH) which would increase commute times wouldn't make anyones 'life worse'. Of course it would make lives worse and rightly cause an uproar.

P.S. I had no idea MThor/Polaris even existed in 5 star PvP. This board is filled with threads about Jugger/Sam and other combos (including other MThor combos) but no one mentions those 2 so I figured they didn't get any real play in 5 star PvP since the common complaint is lack of diverse teams.
Ok, so characters that can win quickly make your life better. The more battles you can do in the time you've allotted to MPQ, the better that is. Where does that end? PvE takes 10 minutes now, would it be twice as good if it was 5? Would it be twice as bad if it was 20?
If my PvE time was 10 minutes I'd be over the moon. My initial clears are easily over 30 minutes, approaching 45 depending on the event (mindless ones etc). The game desperately needs to remove all animations/timers/board&gem falls etc so that the AI turns are resolved in <1 second but that's another thread for another day.

That's what I don't get. I'd LOVE for them to give me lvl800 enemies (provided everyone else got the same thing -- remember this is a competition)! I play this game to have fun. I'm not interested in box-checking, and I'm not interested in "doing PvE." Some days I might not have time to "finish" PvE. Who cares? Why is it something you need to "finish" at all?
If something is fun for you, why do you want to do less of it?
I'm not competitive in PvE but I do need to finish in order to get the progression rewards. Without those, it's not really possible to advance at all in the game unless you spend a lot of money (I only buy VIP for the costume and to support the game).
I play PvP just to 575/13 wins in order to get the 4 star shards and the support shards.
And I don't want to do less MPQ. I enjoy my time matching gems and firing powers. It's a nice way to mentally unwind and relax. So even if my PvE clear times halved, I would not play less MPQ, I'd still play the same 1 hr only I'd be able to do more things in the game (finish DDQ, play more PvP, play shield sim etc).

@GrimSkald, wise words. Thank you. I am going back and forth between Elsa and Sunspot. I wanted Nova at 550 and can do it…but I’m hesitant now. There is so much unknown currently to the player base that I like to make sure I am in a position to minimize my risk. I hope you are right on your assumptions. I just feel like the silence, which is their choice and is purposeful, is bad faith. Honestly we can’t even judge the value of an LL token anymore, so who is to say the vaults are a good deal if they don’t have say something like a roster slot in them.
Edited to add I am thinking more about HP than Command Points in regards to spending.

No one is forcing you to use 550 characters in PvE. You can absolutely use much lower characters in CL10 for harder fights (I'm doing it). Try Simulator in CL10 with L400 and below characters for a serious challenge.

Problem is how do they define difficulty or time invested? For the time part we can just delay 20 seconds between moves or deliberately drag out matches by not firing powers etc. How do you measure difficulty in a game with winfinites where you can know on turn 2 or so whether or not you have a won match and if not you retreat and retry (I have to do this on some challenge nodes).

They measure difficulty and time invested objectively, by enemy level. You wouldn't get extra for purposely not levelling up your guys, because that is a choice you're making. Once they kill the instawin stuff and the overpowered guys, enemy level becomes a useful metric again.
Sure, I could do CL10 with unlevelled 1* or whatever, but, like, that is profoundly weird. I built up my roster to use them, not to bench them for nobodies.

I agree with GrimSkald's logic/analysis 100%.
I'd also add analysis that given how crazy strong even 1 cover is (L500, 131K health) that there is NO WAY these covers will be available for CP purchase (even if there is a new 'cosmic' token that was 85/15 5/6 star like Legends are). The reason is obvious, if there were such a token available for CP purchase (even at 50 or 100 CP), it would totally wreck the new player game (both PvE and PvP) if they pulled a 6 star on like day 30 after saving CP for 1 token draw (and of course new players would do this because its the best thing to do).
I do think there will be a new token though (85/15 like Legendary's are). But it will only be awarded for a T5 finish in the new CL9 and CL10 PvEs. Otherwise it will just be shards for less place finishes in the new CL9 and CL10. I suspect shards only in PvP and only for CL10.

1) I'm trying to level all my supports to R5. That takes shards, RISO, support tokens from playing PvP, PvE, Boss events, monthly Puzzle Ops and vaults
2) They still release 2 characters a month and I need to fully covers and level the 4's to 370 and even the 5's I am fully covering and saving as many covers/shards as possible. I regularly use the latest 5s who are boosted for their time in latest.So my roster is still advancing character wise and support wise. It's just capped at the high end for PvP and I'm more than happy to save covers/shards for my 5s.
Also it's very clear that if 6 stars are even remotely attainable for someone like me that the minute I roster one or two at L500 that's where my MMR will move to and thus my soft cap level will have to essentially go away. It may also be that the new CL9/CL10 in PvE requires characters around L500ish just to enter or remotely do the nodes.

Even in Simulator: 550Frankie/550MT/370AscendedIronMay. Yaro on Frankie, Atlantis on Iron May. Almost every node takes 1 turn, a few take 2 and every now and then the FU takes 3. This is also a great team for wave nodes. And even in Pick2 take Frankie and IM.
Probably 95% of all events can be done in 15 minutes or less and you don't even need to spend any AP.

I think the fastest is Golden Oldie with red supports and power boosters. She can wipe everything before you even move the board.
I'm sure there are others too! In general you want an AoE ability that can be cast off free support AP, paired with stacking power boosters.
m'Thor is powerful, and fast compared to lots of others, but she causes cascades that take awhile to process, and she generally has to move the board to win. To go fast enough, you need to win every fight before you make a move.

I've tried a lot of teams and nothing I've found is faster than the Frankie/MT/AScendedIM with a 5 Yaro and 5 Atlantis. Every now and then you have to back out if neither support procs.
There are three areas where Frankie really shines over Golden Oldie: Wave nodes; if the required third is a mutant (assuming you pair Golden Oldie with 5Emma/Krakoa); and if the first turn doesn't kill everyone. Once Golden Oldie fires the power, she's useless until you build up red. Frankie still hits. Hard.

Just curious, what teams/levels are you using that can do PVE in 15 minutes on CL10? The easy nodes are fast for me, but the rest take a lot longer (Shang Chi (520) + Mthor (500) ) Am I missing something obvious? I have no (x)a5's

For most nodes I run 550 Golden Oldie/5 Emma (level doesn't matter)/Iron Man (3|5, but it doesn't matter a whole heck of a lot he's there mostly just for the arc reactor.) May has Symbiote Goo, Emma has Krakoa, I boost 2 ap of Red/yellow, Blue/Purple, Green/Black. I use this for all the non-trivial nodes (for the highest I'll need to make a match or two, for everything else I just nuke turn 1,) and the 3★ and 4★ nodes so long as they're not Mutants. For the CN, the 5★ node, and the trivials I just tend to run whatever best team I can get out of the boosted 5★s, though the May team does work so long as I match enough and/or whittle things down and/or use Iron Man's yellow after the first blast. I can usually clear in 20ish minutes, but I'm not rushing so it's hard to say.

Why are people complaining about the 12th Anniversary Character Vault? 25 LT/CT tokens and a Master support token are in there.

There are other teams that can do this (somebody posted a WILD combo with Spider-Man India awhile back that I'd never thought of). I think there may be even more to be discovered, with ascension now in play.
The AoE+ double booster combo will probably be dead when they upgrade cl10 difficulty though -- it only works now because the enemy health is low enough to wipe the whole fight.

It looks great to me, too. That Master token pushed my Tinker up to 5-star!
