Despite being necro’d it’s funny how relevant this post/team basically remains.

mThor (or I'd prefer 'cheapThor') is effective in that combo on defence because the tile destruction from her passive always target special tiles 1st, and the resulting board shake always causes cascade matches, making multiple triggers of Polaris's passive. So that team on 2nd turn can usually wipe at least 1 of your guys, AND collect enough ap to fire multiple powers, sometimes at that same turn, because the passive comes before the AI making any moves.I avoid them like a plague because of this... cheap tactic...
This.
The BRB/Polaris teams can be shut down immediately with Chasm first turn so they don't offer a threat but if Jane/Polaris hits a cascade you can be in a world of hurt. It was never a problem when Polaris was only a 4* as she is squishy but she has enough health as a 5* to cause problems.

A lot of people use Polaris BRB Mthor. How's this supposed to work as a winfinite? Or is this used just to annoy opponents on defense? As a winfinite it has zero effectiveness, because Mthor doesn't have a green OR blue power to smash the board with. It just relies on the board smash at the beginning of each turnDoesn't have to be "winfinite" to be efficient / effective.
Polaris BRB Mthor may be "effective" in getting wins but it sure as hell ain't efficient.
An actual winfinite doesn't give a fast win, but it basically secures the win against a stronger team, and if used correctly it suffers little to no damage in the process, so it saves health packs as well.
Based on this and your other posts, I have to ask .... you are aware this forum concerns a game called Marvel Puzzle Quest ... ?
Now who's the one baiting.
Excuse me if I don't continue discussing this with you; I already saw that endeavor as fruitless

I always used 4* Thanos waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when I used this for the CN - does anybody have him ascended and if so, any difference apart from health & match damage?

I think they may be aware that Mthor makes this team better on defense, but that can't be the reason they're trying that. It's harder to get through than the winfinite teams, but it's certainly not unbeatable.
I hoped someone who actually uses this team could give me an answer, but seems nobody does here.

Oh, but you can still use Polaris BRB Juggs (4* version, ascended or not) actually. It's still a valid winfinite variation. Gotta get his blue at 5 covers tho.

BRB/Jane/Polaris was until recently the team I see most in SHIELD Sim and it offers both offense and defence coz Jane can blow up BRB's shields to power him whilst also blowing up Polaris strike tiles and causing cascades to kill the other team. Chasm only partly shuts this one down.

As I said, I actually preferred to use 4* Thanos as he blew up more of the board. Truth is though, I don't really have anywhere that I play winfinite teams these days, I'd rather use the boosted fives. The only cheese team I use sometimes is Kang/Deathlok/IM40 (I understand Darkveil is even faster but I know what I am doing with the one listed).

I also use Thanos, I think he's the best for use against enemy Polaris teams because of his passive that removes enemy SAPs and turns them into more green tiles.

The moment dev announced the ascension feature, i already foresee this happens. Some very good ones were released as 4* and the forum was abuzz on how to best utilize them with 5* so that they won't get too many retals. Ascension negates that worry and now... urgh....
But on the plus side, PVE becomes almost a trivial matter... hmm...

A..."valid winfinite variation????"
Setting aside the fact that m'Thor does indeed have a blue ability that blows up the board, and so can actually go infinite fairly easily, you don't get extra points for using a team that gets infinite turns. The point of the game is to down everybody on the other team.

So no difference on his ability to winfinite but he seems to scrub up OK.

I don't think I have really used the team in that capacity in PvP, as I said it was for beating the SCL10 CN back before I had other tools to use. Now I have all 5s champed (apart from Elsa) there is always somebody boosted to use in PvP and in SHIELD Sim I am part of the problem with Sam/Juggs.

I do use this team to climb in sim. It efficient, effective, and fast. It used to be the meta in sim before every one decided to start using chasm again as he shuts this team down. But I'll still use it on my early climb when I can find non Chasm teams.
The team pretty much plays itself. Mthor blows up tiles, polaris does damage and makes more tiles, brb collects blue ap that you can use to stun lock or blow up more tiles.
I took a video of using this team to beat a jugg/sam/ omeg red team but the forum won't let me share it. I did beat them in less than minute without them ever getting a turn.

I’m still confused why we’re talking winfinites for PvP when the original thread is about punching up in PvE

Yeah it's a valid winfinite... as in, you hit his blue, smash a bunch of friendly protects, get the blue AP refunded by BRB's passive, cast Jugg's blue again, and again ad infinitum... Is it effficient? Maybe not... Is it effective? As a "winfinite" certainly yes... didn't you figure BRB recovers blue AP as well as green when friendly protects are destroyed? It doesn't have to be strictly a green ability that destroys the tiles for you to spam. This may also be a blue ability as you can see.
Mthor cannot spam her blue once she runs out of charged tiles to destroy the board, she CANNOT spam the ability, that's why it does NOT work as a winfinite... its ability to destroy tiles is tied to the condition that charged tiles must exist on the board and, even at that point, it still can't really be spammed as she also needs to be at less than 8 blue AP for it to destroy tiles. With BRB refunding your blue AP pretty easily (and getting other colors AP through cascade matches) that means you cast Mthor's blue a few times during your turn and that's it... it can't go infinite. You have to give up your turn to keep going. Can Mthor still work? Yes. In a winfinite way? Absolutely not.
I want you to realize that unlike Juggs, Mthor here is NO winfinite, Juggs can spam his blue without giving up his turn... Mthor can't.
Now, the point of going Polaris BRB winifinite as stated earlier is to 1) secure the win (as you just try to fill the board with protects, reducing the enemy's match damage and possibly ability damage to just 1, clogging to board for the enemy team so they don't get their special tiles, they are forced by BRB to give you AP which in turn gives you the chance to use more your abilities etc etc) and 2) saving health so you get to use the same team again and again without spending health packs if possible (this through the use of the corresponding supports and by doing multiple tile matches after tiles get destroyed by the spammable ability). A winifinite team can do this. One that isn't a winfinite (i.e. one that has Mthor as a third) may still FLOP ocassionally. My original question was why people use Mthor in this team... granted it works still as a team, yes the point of the game is to get the enemy team down... it can still down the enemy team... but it doesn't work in the most efficient way at that. It can't be that people hasn't figured that they DO have much better characters suitable for an actual winfinite team and use one of those instead of Mthor.

Because people obviously still use these winfnites for PvP. It doesn't work against ALL teams, but it does for some against some. Nobody said you can't "punch up" in PvP as well. I'm confused about your thinking that winfinites for punching up in PvP can't be used. People do that all the time, be it with Polaris BRB ones, or other types of winfinites (notably 4* Moonstone ones).
