Upcoming PVE, Boss Event, and Season Pass Timelines

The Strange Sights PVE event remains an elusive one to push out on Unity without any issues as some of our players have experienced. For a little context, these bugs aren't found during our QA process and are only on the live version of the event, so they can be an elusive target to snuff out. In order to fix this, we'll have to restage the event which is currently being worked on.

As for the previously announced delays for our January Boss event, we're putting some final QA checks this week for Battle at the Basilica and anticipate it to be released in a few days.

Slightly delayed is our Season Pass which is currently blank and will be activated tomorrow on Friday January 9th along with the first set of quests associated with the pass. The end date will remain the same, but we'll send over some SXP to make up for the delay.

Lastly, we'd typically have character release information for our upcoming 5-Star Sword Master (Lin Lie), but the way character stats are created for player-facing consumption is being evaluated and we hope to have this ready for our next 4-Star character release on January 22nd.

Thank you for giving us some actual useful information. One question, am I reading correctly that the Boss event should start on Monday?

Can you please tell us if Sword Master is supposed to have a feeder or not?

If so, are any retro covers being planned to be sent?

Only one week between releases? Is this just getting the schedule back to good?

The schedule is on track at the moment with the 12/25 CGR. Then 2 weeks later (today) Swoooord Masterrrrrr!

However those 6s don’t put any demands on your resources since you don’t roster them for 3 months. So maybe they wanted to move things up for the 4?

Typo on my part. It should be the 22nd.

Sigh this is embarrassing. Guess they should change the name to marvel broken quest

Remember when the devs said moving to unity would be the best thing for the game? Ya not so much

    Thank you for the communication.

Some news, even if it's bad news, is better than no news at all.

I found S0kun's post informative and feel it shows at least a little progress. I also appreciate the communication immensely.

I have no issue with how s0kun communicated. It's more that this game can barely go a day without issue latley.

"Sabotage" normally requires intent. It's possible, but I think it's equally possible that they messed this stuff up by accident.

I agree, "sabotage" is way "too much" for them to plan!!!!!

This is an effort to get back on track, hopefully New Year will bring good news back

Even that many players have left already

We know that before Unity, events had to be created by hand. Unity was supposed to fix that or automate it somehow, but apparently that didn't happen.

It sounds like whatever the process is now, it didn't get handed off correctly from BCS to IP2. It could be that they didn't hand off the documentation, or that the documentation was bad, or that they never had any documentation at all!

I would normally agree...but there was some advance warning, since they knew the Boss event would not happen. To automate any processes certain conditions/triggers need to be met before the next can start. I find it hard to believe that publisher did not know skipping/missing the boss event would also not trigger next event.

It is likely new devs thought they would come in Jan 5 push some magic button and the events would work again. Also not sure why BCS last working day could not be the 2nd week of January. Publishers just compounded the issue by transitioning during the holidays. D3GO sabotaged themselves.

Or that the automated process was never fully completed. That's my guess and IP2 had no idea it wasn't working because of course no documentation.

The complexity of this game should be the interaction of hundreds of characters, not scheduling events

Most dev folks I've had to work with over the past 20 years use AGILE which deprioritizes documentation over releases. Everything you see - the push of stuff that's not necessarily been through every phase of testing that's needed, the errors in labelling stores and offers, the constant need to CREATE MORE with very VERY few GO BACK AND FIXes is everything about AGILE that I hate.

I'd say "what should have happened" is that BCS should have had the events set up to run through the end of February so that they were "magic button" to make happen and give the new team 2 months to learn how to set up March. But that assumes the BCS devs had that kind of time. It assumes that the events weren't being posted just-in-time because that's the best they were able to do with the resources/workload that they had.
