Marvel Puzzle Quest R337 Release Notes (Week of Jan 6, 2026)

New guy likes his special lock tiles, so probably DOA for competitive use, but could still be fun to play with. The last line of his red power is confusing.
"If the target is Supernatural deal 25% permanent damage based on the target's max health" and goes up to 50% at 5 covers.
So does that mean at 5 covers you could instantly down a supernatural enemy firing it twice?

Looks like the season pass is broken as well.

Nice find! I imagine the Sword Master cover is for Lin Lie (confirming all suspicions its a 5*), but I am curious about that Nebula

Looks that way, but we won’t know until someone has been able to test it in-game.
Who is ‘Meta’ and supernatural that the old devs would have been designing a counter to?
Certainly would be super effective against the new Cosmic Ghost Rider with his massive health pool (once eventually covered)…0 -
I just want to add: Kudos to whoever did the art for this one! Big step up VS many recent releases!!
Shame he has no passives, so will likely be DoA.
When was the last character released with only active powers? Feels like it must have been years ago?!3 -
Strange event doesn't work past initial choice round

Was anyone able to get placed in anything other than lowest tier?

PVE is dead...
I believe that in these two weeks that hadn't any new player... with only PVP and Deadpool daily working it's at most embarrassing...

Can everyone please stop being so dramatic and declaring that this or that is dead, or the game is circling the drain. It doesn’t help anything at all!
Yes it’s been rough for a while with Unity bugs, but they’re now transitioning to an entirely new set of staff. Some downtime and further bugs should be expected whilst that happens! But it seems very unlikely to me that they’d bother with bringing a new team in if they’re immediately about to shut it all down, and frankly I’m expecting (and looking forward to) a honeymoon period where the devs are more involved, enthusiastic and communicative (like BCS were initially).
So if everyone could just put their doomsayer signs away, that would be fab, thanks 🙏9 -

Opening up the forum recently is done with an anticipation of "what has gone wrong now?" rather than excitement for a new reveal of a character, or a feature. It just feels like things are worse because the things that go wrong are compounded day after day. It erodes confidence and trust that things will get better. Even the choice of "if you're not enjoying it, don't play" has been taken away as primarily a PvE player. In that context it can be hard to see a way forward and recognise that the downwards spiral will be not only halted but reversed. It will take time and not everyone will have the patience for that. Many have given up already. The concern comes from the opinion that those funding the game may well take the same view.

Thanks Scofie, I understand and experience those emotions about the game too, I just wish it was more internalised and not blurted all over the forum in a reactionary way.
It’s hard to be positive about an unpolished product, but if we want the game to survive (I certainly do) it needs a) spending (obviously) and b) at least some positivity in the community, as the negativity here further erodes confidence and trust in the game, without which players will continue to leave.I’m not saying that folks shouldn’t have concerns, and probably this forum isn’t going to be seen by many, so maybe any influence is minimal. I guess I’m just tired of all the negativity in the wider media and I could do without it painted all over the walls here, in relation to something that’s meant to be casual and fun.
I look at all the problems with the game as a comedy of errors at this point, but they’re not making my life worse in any meaningful way.
I’ll just be pleased when they improve.3 -

Speaking of balance, for those coming to have a vent at the Devs they should give mind to the difference between constructive and fair criticism and non-constructive ranting or accusing other players of being the Devs shills or whatever nonsense. It is perfectly reasonable to be upset about things, it is not perfectly reasonable to be rude, entitled, aggressive or a troll.

I’ll just be pleased when they improve.I'm entirely with you. I have gallows humour in my nature and I find the negativity tiring. I imagine others find positivity in the face of chaos tiring too and that's what some are complaining about or trying to counteract. My post was just about balancing out the conversation and pointing out that whatever anyone's view, it's not unreasonable to think that way.
But I also know if this game was a basket case that keeps making money, it's going to carry on. If it's not going to make money, player positivity or not, it's not going to be around forever.
@DAZ0273 - spot on. I wondered why people were quoting posts I couldn't see. Thank you @Alfje17!

Honestly, this many people (and the ones in our alliances not on the forums or Discord) verbally expressing their frustration should show how many people want to play this game. A clear indicator it isn't dead.

I'm pretty confused about why some people seem to think some of us are defending the devs, or shilling for them or whatever.
Since the Unity thing they've made an absolute mess of just about everything. They're making basic, obvious mistakes -- like I know pretty much nothing about the backend of the game, and half the time I can figure out what specific thing they forgot to do. There's no excuse for what's been happening and anybody who thinks they're competent isn't living in reality. I don't think I've ever defended or excused any of the dumb stuff they've done. The decision to rewrite the entire game was insane and anyone could've predicted we'd end up here.
But MPQ is a video game. When it works it's still fun, and when it doesn't work I'll play a different video game. Or watch tv. Or read a book. Or (god forbid!) hang out with my family. If the game dies, or they break it to the point that it's not fun for me...my backlog of other games is a million miles long. I'll go play those and get on with my life. MPQ is a really fun toilet game that I've been having fun playing for a VERY long time, but no video game is worth having emotions over.

Like imagine doing this with other leisure activities in your life:
"I've been watching the Real Housewives shows for 10 years, and they used to be so great! But this most recent season is just awful. The producers have made all these changes and it's just not the show I love anymore! They're just so incompetent. I feel disrespected. All my friends are talking about quitting -- it's really a dying show. The ratings are way down. They need to fix all these problems or I'll stop watching too! And then what? When nobody watches the show it'll get cancelled!"
What would you tell this person? How is this different from what's been going on here?

I feel bad asking @S0kun, but any timeline for the latest legends or classic legends to be reset? Especially the Latest Legends is what I am curious about.

I think the Internet is a tough place to quantify emotions, though. If I'm "angry" over something in this game not working, I come here and I voice that. I might even use the word "angry". But am I "someone just keyed my car" angry? No. I'm slightly annoyed for the five minutes all that took.
I also think you have to remember that some people playing this game actually are young. And some people playing this game have spent thousands of dollars on it. Those are two groups of people who might get angry for reasons you and I don't have.
