Time is a fickle entity, meddle with its threads and face the unimaginable consequences. The godlike power of the first era planeswalkers resulted in rifts in time and space. Teferi noticed the consequences of those rifts when first preparing for the return of the continent of Shiv, after the first Phyrexian Invasion. The rifts in Dominaria threaten all of existence. Power means nothing when faced against the chaotic and unstoppable force of the march of time.
