This happened a couple of turns into the match after a Shang-Chi match and FantastiCar board shuffle. It was originally a Purple tile over a Yellow tile, but after matching it it became a Team-Up tile over a Yellow tile.

In the screenshot below where it shows that I've selected the Team-Up tile, I actually tapped the empty space in the bottom row. That empty bottom space remained empty for the remainder of the match.
