Recent 'Discard' effects discarding the first card in hand not the last card

I've come across 2 cards in the last couple of days (from more recent sets) that state that you 'Discard a Card', and then proceed to Discard the first (top) card in your hand and not the last (bottom) card.

Unexpected Assistance
Fanatic of the Harrowing

This of course might be the intention for these cards as they were designed; but the rules of MTGPQ are clear here:

(Search for 'SOI'.. 'Discard' is the second ability in that section, after 'Delirium')

Discard

Cards that use the Discard ability will, by default, discard the last card in hand (either yours or your opponent's, depending on the card). If it would Discard any other card, it will be specified in the text ("Discard the first card").

Either the wording on these cards should be changed, or the functionality should.

TBH, I think it would be useful to new players if Discard effects always told you which hand position they were discarding from.

Well they could link to a pop up explanation of discard explaining that it defaults to the last card. That's what most abilities do with stuff they want to explain but don't want to put in the main card text.

... although a number of Discard cards from older sets (e.g. Magmatic Insight) do not include a popup explanation of the mechanic on the card...

Yeah i don't there are any cards that have additional text linked to discard. I was just thinking linking it to an explanation that it defaults to last would be a good way to avoid having to specify to discard the last card and still make it clear how it works.
