And suddenly the PVP is matching with other players again.

Suddenly it is isn’t 20-30 matches before real matches.

Suddenly real points being earned again.

Suddenly it’s fun again!

Suddenly PVP is just unbeatable teams again. Having my highest levelled teams wiped in one or two turns because they aren’t meta is not fun.

Yeah, i think they overcorrected the difficulty and it is even harder than it was. Meaning it gets impossible to win and no fun at all

I had gotten used to not needing to use health packs, so Cast Iron Clash is proving a sobering experience! Ah well, it had to end sometime I guess.

    They did no such thing.

The first few events will be weird matchups because a whole lot of people are avoiding updating until forced so they can keep farming.

And so it’s likely there will be disproportionate numbers of strong teams at decent points because anyone who didn’t update isn’t getting a high score because they’re still bashing seals etc.

Also it seems likely that some players with weaker teams who were enjoying the broken PvP will at least temporarily play less PvP and/or end their play at lower scores than they were when they could grind seeds. Hence if you yourself have a weaker roster you’ll find fewer equal matchups now that the seeds aren’t providing a lot of easy points.

They really, really, really should have fixed the MMR immediately (within a few days). Sept was 50% below the former floor of revenue I’ve observed, probably because so many people built giant hoards of hp etc thanks to grindy pvp spewing covers at them. And it set an expectation the game isn’t supposed to deliver for newer rosters who will be demoralized by the perceived rug pull.

Newer players, really even mid tier players in the early 4 star stages could only club roughly 33 seals per event. At that point you stopped getting seals and saw a lot of L500+ rosters they couldn't touch. So at most they were getting 30ish extra covers which is definitely nice but doesn't lead to a crazy HP haul (these players do not have their 1s and 2s ascended to 5s so they aren't raking in the HP haul from 5 star champ rewards).

Alternatively, you could have "managed" your score by retreating a few times to get below the 400 thresholds and seeds would recycle in. 50 wins was pretty quick and you could recycle this tactic as many times as necessary. It would have been helpful to see how many lossess / retreats as well. Remember math usually works in both directions.

good statistical experiment. the extra 1* covers really do make a meaningful difference

I'm just so glad it's back to normal. I was even able to have a (brief) retal war today!

I do agree that they should've fixed it much faster.

It's funny the arguments -for- such a limited view MMR, often those arguments boil down to "This is how I used to play the game, and I want it to stay the same".

I -liked- the change, it allowed me to find more than 3-8 different teams over, and over, and OVER again. It allowed me to see lots of other team compositions and more than just the couple 'meta' or godboost characters. Neat!

You know who else got to do that? Everyone! Everyone could find teams bigger than themselves if they wanted a challenge, or smaller than themselves if they just wanted to get a few wins/matches and get on with their day.

I bet the folks that I have to smack a bunch of times in a row simply to get 50 wins would rather I didn't see the same q's over and over and over. I see several in this thread (back) in that situation, that aren't happy with it.

I'm sure the 'hunt' for the chosen few was harder. But a compressed MMR has the same downside - it's tough to find the high points when you're stuck such a short bucket of matches.

    Re: teams being harder

Also, keep in mind that a LOT of players farmed covers while MMR was busted. It's plausible that rosters are flat-out stronger now.

Welp, it was fun while the botched MMR was around... Back to 25 win then...

And the cyling through the same 5ish unbeatable teams is still there. Whelp indeed only 25 it is.

Not sure about unbeatable but I just came across my first ever 5* Abomination and he was nasty as anything. I am guessing the Gamma support helped too. Won't be fighting him again without a better plan.

I tried to do a few extra wins last night in the Gwen PvP (did my 25 vs seals before I was updated).

Maybe most of the players in this PvP did their 25 or 50 vs seals and stopped playing. But what I saw was VASTLY harder than I ever saw before. 3 out of every 4 teams I queued featured a L500 plus character (boosted to that mostly, but I also saw quite a few in the 600+ range) and no one on my roster is over 350 (low 400s for those that are boosted). I had to skip like 20+ times to find a battle I could win. I ended up doing 6 more battles to get into the T100 for the support shards.

Hopefully the next PvP is different now that MMR is fixed for everyone otherwise its going to be hard to even do 12-13 wins.
