I voted ‘It depends’. I understand I can’t get older holiday exclusives because I wasn’t in the game (as much as I’d love them!) But cards like Radiant Lotus seem out of reach because that side of the duel decks event is so unutterably rubbish that it will likely never win.

I voted "No, it makes the game worse". I'm a F2P player and while I understand that this game needs to make money and people who pay for stuff should get early access, I also believe that EVENTUALLY all the cards should become available for non paying players too. How long that interval is can be debated.

Voted neutral, as noted in other thread, I'm not a completionist, and not having uncollectible cards is not affecting my ability to succeed in the game. (And looking at some of those particular cards, I don't think they would improve my decks anyway.)

I voted no. I would really like to be able to get my hands on the Hydra Deck cards...:-) especially:
Disorienting Glower : 9. Spell Card. Disable each non-creature card in your opponent's hand until the beginning of your next turn.

No – They make the game worse.

I voted — it worsens the situation.

Why? Because developers didn't take this situation into account when adjusting how beginners can obtain cards. A friend of mine told me about this. He played MTG: PQ for 5 years, while I’ve only been playing for 2. The point is, he attracted a new player — a complete beginner. The guy played for a short time and then left the game forever.

Try to guess why that happened. It’s not hard.

If you're still unsure, here's a hint: It’s nearly impossible to get the necessary cards. Right now, especially the rarest ones like the Lotus, are only available through real money purchases!

Even with paying (donating), this doesn’t solve the problem by 100%. You keep grinding and saving up, and the next day — you quit the game forever. New players don’t see the point anymore. There's a very high entry barrier in the game, making it extremely difficult for newcomers to cross that threshold and reach the level of veterans. Otherwise, the gap between veterans and new players is just too big.

For example, look at Honkai: Star Rail — why is this game number one and also highly profitable, yet all the new players are satisfied? You don't necessarily have to donate, but it's still achievable, and there's no huge gap between veterans and newbies. You can get what you need, and it's enough. But in MTG: PQ, everything seems to be the opposite.

Honestly, I don’t know how developers will solve these problems if, year after year, they change nothing except for a new quest system — where they simply removed old booster rewards (like getting 5 cards from a regular booster pack) and instead give only 1 booster with just 1 card. Just wonderful. They even took away the daily login reward, reducing it to only 21 days, then introduced a quest system that gives just 1 pink crystal per day. Great. Eventually, even donors will stop supporting the game unless the entire system is radically changed to satisfy players' needs at least reasonably.

Because any rational player would never consider playing a game that gives no return — spending months hoping for pure luck. Even after 2 years of playing, I’m unable to craft even one of those "masterpiece" cards due to the absurdly high cost of spheres! Veterans? No questions — they've built and collected everything since 2016 and are fully equipped and happy. But what about newcomers? They leave MTG: PQ forever. This has been proven by my personal experience.

Here’s my verdict based on personal experience:

    • It's impossible to collect cards, because randomness doesn't let you get the specific cards you want.
    • Pink crystals are the most scarce resource, and a new player simply can't afford a card like Stritch Time from the Rare set — which is an amazing card.
    • Collecting cards becomes harder and harder for newcomers. Beginners can only collect modern cards from 2025 onward, but anything from 2016 to 2024 is a matter of time — and they won’t wait that long. Life is short, and there’s a lot to do.
    • Battling other players will be difficult, because cards released in 2025 won’t be effective against players who’ve been collecting since 2016 or 2020 up until now.
    • And finally: The rarest cards given as gifts by developers are truly unobtainable! Not a single newcomer will ever get them in their lifetime!

That’s why I believe the system must be completely reworked — so it becomes attractive to players, offering accessibility and a real chance to play and build decks without having to wait weeks, months, or even years to collect everything. The interest fades away quickly. Players will choose to play Honkai: Star Rail or MTG Arena instead.

Believe me, the online population will drop over time, and eventually you’ll realize: if don’t make changes — this is the end.

What was your personal experience? Leaving the game, but still lurking in the forum?

You are one of those who are not able to apologize for such words addressed to me. You wrote your offtopic here!

No – They make the game worse.

I want to raise another topic about the impossibility of collecting cards.

For example, there is a card Bruvac the Grandiloquent.
Do all new players have such a card? No.
Well, in 2 years of my game I have never seen this card. except perhaps among old players. Why not re-distribute the card every month to give players the opportunity to buy this card?!

If you want players to be happy, then please put this card up for sale at FBLTHP. Players will definitely appreciate it and thank you for everything.

    Hi Tolkne,

I understand you're unhappy with the availability of some of the cards. While I don't want to sit on the dev's chair, I really would like to say that Bruvac is part of the Jumpstart set. The Jumpstart event ran last Christmas, so actually you would have been able to get it (depending a bit on RNG regarding the starting boosters to choose from). It could very well be that Jumpstart will run again this Christmas or maybe even sooner, depending on the schedule the devs have planned for the rest of the year. I doubt they have any long term schedule, but we can always ask them, right?

@Magic:PQ Support Team Any insight into this topic?

So far they have been consistent about running jumpstart once a year, so might take you a decade or so to get what what you want but at least then haven't made the set entirely uncollectible. It would be nice it they converted it over to be replayable like Battles from the Ages but this is better than not running it at all.

Daxos vs Kalemne and Zendikar vs Eldrazi no longer running and making those two sets uncollectible is a bit disappointing.

I didn't know that these two contrasting events aren't running anymore...they were fun...

So not everything changed for the better in my two years of absence...and on top uncollectible sets..?

    Why Webcore ? Why

I hate it when cards are behind the paywall.
I find it ok that Anniversary cards are unavailable for players who started later.
But I also don't hate the idea of putting those cards into Fblthp's findings or that event when you get the exclusive cards from.
