Question about Power boosts

I never used them before but wanted to try green power boost with carol passive to see if it would do more AOE damage in PVE. 

I set it to 50% boost and it did not boost the dmg of her green passive damage. 

Is this a bug or maybe I don't understand how power boosts are suppose to be used?

    the boost applies to damage via matching said color on the game board.

    Thanks. I guess I only thought the one that said match damage boost was for match damage. I will be using these ones all the time now. I've always just had them at 30
